[No Subject]

So this past week was pretty alright!!
Not too much to tell you all about! We didn’t see the baptism of our investigator yaqui.. We have to postpone it until hopefully this next weekend so we are super excited!!

But it was pretty tranquilo this past week! The Stake here in Formosa held a mini MTC and invited all the missionaries to come and work with the kids for a few hours! It was super fun and we just spent like 2 hours clapping houses and making sure they didn’t get shot in the street! The 2 kids I had were a handful but I got them back alive to the church! hahaha No but really it was all good! It was during the siesta when we normally study so when we went out everyone was sleeping so it wasn’t too great but it was still fun!

But that was it no mas! pretty tranquilo week! Not too much to tell about!  It’s still cold...

Next week we have a changed of schedule! I won’t be emailing until Tuesday because we will be having a meeting on Monday with our mission President!

So have a good week and I’ll be back on Tuesday!!

Well.... it was a week... we didn’t have the baptism... turns out our investigator loves coffee and didn’t say anything about it until the interview.... so ya hate to see it... so hopefully we will see it this next week! but for right now we are keeping our heads high!!

But this past week was pretty good! The stake had a "mini MC" so they asked all the missionaries to come and help and we went and did divisions with some youth here in the stake! all we did was take them contacting for 2 straight hours... it wasn’t very fun.... but it was fun at the same time! plus I got to see some other missionaries that I don’t see too often so it was a party!

But other than that we have been doing just fine! For the first time in my time in the mission we hit 21 lessons in a week which was a goal that President set a few months before I got into the mission... so now 10 months later I finally hit it hahaha.

But tomorrow is our last district meeting of the transfer already!! I’m going to talk about humility... since I’m the most humble person I know I’m going to drop some humility bombs on these missionaries hahaha but it should be fun!

READ:
the reason our last district meeting is this week is because next week we have interviews with president on Monday! so we are having a P-day moved to TUESDAY next week! so don’t freak out when you don’t hear from me next Monday!!

But all is well!! I’m just tired and we just work so nothing is really new....

But it sounds like my dad is enjoying his time with his nerd friends in Kansas City....;)

Glad to hear mom is all better!!

With love

Do Work, Like a 9 to 5

Hello everyone!!

So this past week was pretty good!
Still alive so I guess it’s been going well, haha.

But this past week nothing really big happened... Argentina did celebrate its day of independence this past week of the 9th! We didn’t really celebrate at all... we really didn’t do anything at all la verdad... No one wanted to talk to us... They really go hard the like US does for independence day... all they really do is congregate at the schools to watch these shows that the kids put on (it’s like the Pledge of Allegiance but a giant ceremony type deal...)

But we’re preparing for a baptism this next week so we are super excited!! We have met a lot of super awesome people this past week so we actually have people that love us for once! nahhh... But my comp is getting jealous that everyone out in Barrio Nomqom knows my name… so when we are walking down the street they’re all yelling "PETERS" and all the little kids come up and try to tackle me.... I’m just so famous around here I guess😏

But I feel like every week my emails are getting shorter and shorter... that’s because the same thing happens every week... Just another week here in Formosa.... still just chugging along!!  Hope all is well for you guys back home! Would love to hear your guys plans for the summer/ this up and coming fall!

 Hola fam,

I GOT MY PACKAGE!!!
Thank you for everything! I was kind of let down though when I found out that not everything was from the States (Nutella is made in Canada and the Sour Patch Kids are made in Mexico...) close enough I guess???

But I look forward to the other one as well! And before you start thinking about a birthday package just know the only thing I really need is Gs and Socks....

So dad is ditching town right as mom gets sick like always no?? interesting... but have fun anyways!!

But this past week is good! We are planning another baptism this next week so we are super excited!! But other than that we fault contact with some other investigators with a baptismal date this past week... so updates to come I guess!!

Update on our amigo the devil worshiper, 3 lessons in and he has already quit his other church, accepted that Joseph Smith was a prophet and is reading the Book of Mormon! The church is true folks... but he still has a mountain of other obstacles to overcome before he comes anywhere near baptism..... But he’s is so AWESOME! There’s always 1 investigator that you always look forward to teaching and he is definitely him!!

Parrot
But all has been well for us! we continue to work hard and all... this past week was 9 de Julio (Argentine Independence day) but nothing happened...... we just didn’t find any charlas at all that day so it was rough.... But it is hard to believe that we are already on week 4 of the 6 week transfers!!

But all is well! I’m healthy and alive! The Stake down here is in pretty bad shape so we had a very difficult ward council yesterday... I don’t know if I will be here any longer to see the outcome within the next couple months but we are working hard to get things turned around!!

Have a great week! Feel better mom!!

BORN IN THE US (Argentina)

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!!!

Well friends and family its the fourth of July and all is well here in Formosa still!

Fortunately, I was able to celebrate with fireworks today as there are protests in the streets, drums being banged, and fireworks being lit off... don’t ask me why but I sure do enjoy listening to the fireworks on this special day!

But this past week was kind of long but we got a LOT of work in! We’re always running around in all corners of our area and have been teaching some bomb lessons! It’s like being able to speak Spanish has made this whole missionary thing a lot easier!! But that doesn’t change the fact that we never get time to just rest for once.... I’m just always tired at this point... I now understand why my trainer Elder Johnson took every second he could to just lay in bed... even if it was for 2 minutes...

But there’s not much to talk about... Everyone has already forgotten about the COPA America... Although it sounds like Messi is leaving the team.... Still just chugging along out her in Formosa.... this Saturday is the day of Independence for Argentina as well!! so go out and celebrate today and now you have another excuse to do it all over again this Saturday!! (I will also complete 10 months as a missionary this Saturday as well... didn’t I just leave??)

Have a great week!
I love you all!!
HAPPY 4TH of JULY!!!!
Y 9 de JULIO!!!!

Aguante.... Chile??

Sup everyone!

So it’s true.... the greatest futbal team in the world lost last night to Chile in the COPA America Final.... There were no riots or people yelling in the streets like some of y’all have seemed to think... no everyone just seems really depressed today...

But this past week we just saw rain, rain, and more rain....... and it’s still cold.... So nothing has really changed!! We had a grand total of 19 people come to church this past week (6 of them being missionaries) so it was suuupppeerrr tranquilo.... It apparently hit hard all around the mission as well so we weren’t the only ones that faulted people in the church this past week!

But all is well for now!! My first district meeting didn’t go too well... I’m just not a good public speaker... especially in Spanish... Hopefully the meeting we have tomorrow will go a lot smoother then the first!!

Rip City with some nice tan lines
But all is well!! Were still just chugging along here in Formosa! Things have always and probably will be pretty tranquilo!!

Have a great week and enjoy the Summer!!

Hey fam

So all is well there’s no riots in the streets or anything... everyone is just super depressed today.... We didn’t have to stay in the pension at all last night since the game started at 8 and we had to be in the pension at 9 so it was all tranquilo...

But Nothing really new has gone down this week! I’m just with my new comp in the same area... It rained...a lot... and 19 people came to church last week... the missionaries making up 6 of those people... That’s what happens when you change up the schedule! I’m pretty sure with the cold and the hard rain that hit the entire mission the highest attendance was in a ward here in Formosa with about 29 people...

But nothing really new! We have just been working out here! With so much time in one area it gets hard to find new things to write about! My first district meeting didn’t go too well... I’m just not a good public speaker... especially in Spanish...
so tomorrow I will have a redemption shot at it!

But it sounds like things have just gotten a lot busier with the start of Summer! Good luck with everything!!

I don’t know if I have much more to say but there will be another email hahaha.

Have a great week!

Holar todos

How’s it all going???

So this past week we had transfers! And I’m staying!! I guess I might just be staying here in Formosa for the rest of my life!! haha nahhh but I’m still stocked to be here!! my new companion is named Elder Allen from CAMAS WASHINGTON!! P Town reppin down here in Formosa together!! We are going to have an awesome time together these next few weeks!! But he’s newer to the mission so he has been fillin’ me on things like the Portland Timbers MLS cup and Trailblazers so hopefully I’m all caught up now!

But Elder Daniels went off to Resistencia to become a Zone Leader leaving me behind to follow in his footsteps as district leader here in Formosa.  I give my first District meeting tomorrow.... I’m not excited...

But nothing really happened this past week! It was pretty tranquilo! We talked with this one dude that had recently come out of the hospital with serious knife wounds.  Turns out he was trying to defend his house from robbers and went out with a hatchet (cause we all got one of those laying around the house ready for intruders right?) and how he almost killed a dude with it... so that was a pretty interesting story to hear! There will always be stories from the mission that we will always remember but the rest of the week was really low key! nothing crazy going on or nothing news worthy to keep y’all up on!

Elder Allen and I in front of Paraguay!
All is well! I’m still alive and healthy! Hopefully something more interesting next week! The Argentina vs USA COPA America Game is tonight if you didn’t know... so for the time being if anyone asks...I’m from Germany...

¡¡¡¡AGUANTE ARGENTINA!!!!

I was companions with Messi

HAPPY FATHERS DAY
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SYDNEY AND WILL

Well glad I got that out of the way....

But all is well and yes we had transfers... and I stayed!! So now I’m going to be pushing 6 months here in Formosa! but I have a new companion! his name is Elder Allen from CAMAS, WASHINGTON! so I don’t think we will have any problems getting along;) we already have talked about everything Portland! But he’s kind of new, he has like 3 transfers less than me so he’s still a jovensito in the mission!

To answer dads questions:
I’m in Formosa 2. Formosa 2 as of this transfer consists of 1 district with me being the district leader now. Every first Tuesday or Thursday of every month there is a consejode lideres in Resistencia where all the zone leaders go and that same week we have our zone meetings! District meetings happen every week when there’s no other meetings in place but for this transfer the only difference between zone/district meetings are the people giving the capcitations... They’re are going to be held in the capillas of Barrio Circunvalacion and Barrio Centinario in a weekly rotation...We do divisions once a transfer but our zone consists of 2 companionships of elders and 3 of sisters… so divisions don’t happen very often hahaha.

I haven’t eaten anything good recently no…mainly just rice and noodles...

I haven’t had the need to buy a jacket yet as it hasn’t gotten that cold... the long sleeve shirts have held me through until now!!

Yes, we all hear everything about the COPA America and of course we know the United States is playing Argentina! They will be playing at 10 tonight so we don’t need to worry about being in the calle when it starts! and I root for Argentina just for my own personal safety hahaha.

That’s basically it! not much is new for right now!!
With love!
Jon
